Hinilawod Reported by F. Landa Jocano (Sunday Times Magazine – June 9,1957) Kaptan wanted Alunsina, the goddess of eastern skies to get married. So, she chose Paubari – a mortal, the king of Jalauod. Maklium-sa-t’wan the god of the plains and valleys was so angry because he considered this preference for a mortal an insult to the gods. So Makilium-sa-t’wan conspired with the Diwatas, Makilium-sa-bagidan - the lord of fire; Makilium-sa-tubig – the lord of the sea; Kasaraysarayan-sa-silgan – the lord of the rivers, to punish the earth people. But the guardian of happy homes – Suklang Malayon, warned Paubari and Alunsina of the plot. Later Magdang-Diriinin – the goddess sina of the plot. Later Magdang-Diriinin – the goddess of the hidden lakes and Saragan-Kabagyo – the lord of the sorm joined the enemies of Paubari and Alunsia. Having been warned, Alunsia and Paubari were prepared and so they were able to withstand seven months of storm, deluge and earthwaukes. Alunsina begot three princes – Labaw Dinggin, Humadapnin, and Dumalapdap who were purified at birth by the high priest Bangut-Banwa by burning alonghiran and kamangyan. Labaw Dinggin won his first bride by vanguishing the huge monster Manaluntad. The first bride was Angiy Ginbitinan of Jalaur. He won his second bride Abyang Diriinin by overcoming a giant with a hundred arms Sikay Padalogdog. But he lost to the lord of darkness in the fight for the third bride Malitong Yawa. However, he was saved by his son Baranongon, whose mother was Abyang Diriinin. Baranongon with his umbilical cord still uncut defeated Saragnayan and brought his father back home escorted by his brother Aso Mangga. Humadapnin went forth to avenge the insult against his brother by exterminating Saragnayan’s relatives. He won his first bride the daughter of Datu Umbaw Pina-umbaw, king of Piniling Tubig by easily throwing a huge stone which block the center of the kingdom back to the mountain from which it rolled. He also won the hand of the goddess of gold at Burigadong Rada – Sinaklang Bulawan. Dumalapdap in his turn, won his bride the goddess of the evening breeze Lubay Lubyok Hanginin Mahuyok-huyokon who lived in Hiritlangan ka adlaw, but only after overcoming a two-headed monster Balanakon who guarded a narrow bridge on the way to the goddess and after fighting for seven months against the bat-like monster with sharp poisonous claws called Uyutang.
