Laua-an is 4th class Municipality located in the central part of Antique. It is bounded on the North by the Municipality of Barbaza, on the South by the Municipality of Bugasong, on the East by the Mun. of Tapaz, Capiz and on the West by Cuyo East Pass. Laua-an is compose of 40 barangays with 12 are located along the coastal areas and the rest are considered upland. The Municipal Planning and Development Office has record in updating the comprehensive land use plan (CLUP) which is now on its mid-way for accomplishment. There is also a presence of comprehensive revenue generation plan with appreciable efficiency of system for real property tax assessment and collection. LGU Laua-an has a perfect revenue target accomplishment rate leading this record to the real property tax accomplishment rate. Laua-an again had its ratio in terms of internal revenue and quality of the annual budget and also in debt service ratio which had another blazing perfect ratio. Based on accounting office’ records, LGU Laua-an has a good standing speaking of percentage of total appropriation expended on personal services The Human Resource Management Officer can also attest how the LGU is responding to the costumer’s concerns and services. Speaking of services, this humble municipality has streamlined civil service application processes. Issuance of business and building permits and issuance of a certificate of occupancy can be availed in a shorter time. In response to the criterion on Human Resource Mgt. and Development, the HRM Office of is always available for checking and review of its office program. Of forty (40) barangays, there are 42 Day care Centers which caters to children ages 3-4.9 years of age. There is also a hundred percent for percentage of functional pre-school centers. Of 45 Day CaRe Workers, 20 are accredited. Another percentage of qualified pre-school teachers for DepEd pre-schools. As to the LGU’s measures to mitigate effect of global warming/climate change, the Local Chief Executive has issued EO for the creation of MRF in every barangay; nursery for every barangay; brgy. tree park for every barangay; tree planting ordinance for every 2nd Friday of the month of June; abacca and banana plantation in every barangay and the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program help in tree planting as part of their support to the LGU.
